Taking the Guesswork Out of Child Safety Seats

There's a better way for parents to find child safety seats that are easier to get in the car. It's a new 5-star rating system the government is rolling out.
It rates how easy to use a seat is, or isn't.
The four categories are:
- Instructions
- Installation
- Labels
- Ease of Use
U. S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters says, "All parents want the same thing, the same thing that we want. They want a seat that fits their child properly, one that is easy to use, and is easily installed correctly in their vehicle." "It is extremely important to understand that these star ratings do not measure the overall safety of a car seat. They measure rather the ease of use and rating how easy a car seat is to install properly," she says.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has placed the ratings system on its website, click here.
