Showers Soak Parts of Arkansas Sunday

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: March 10, 2013
Showers moving throughout the state have created a washout for the end to the weekend.

After a beautiful Saturday with temperatures in the 70s, you can expect cloudy skies and damp conditions throughout the day.

A line of storms sparked severe thunderstorm warnings for areas just north of Little Rock around 9 a.m. Sunday.  According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts reached as high as 33 miles per hour at Adams Field.

The system that dramatically dropped temperatures in a matter of minutes also brought much-needed rainfall to the area.  Early Sunday, towns in northwest Arkansas were reporting anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rain.

Meteorologists expect conditions to begin to dry out later this evening.
