Your Child and Your Marriage

Set a date night and don't break it unless there is an emergency. One common roadblock to a fun night out is fighting your own insecurities about
leaving your child. To overcome this start with short outings and check in once during your time out. Work up to longer dates. With the technology we have now you can be reached without difficulty should something happen. If you feel more comfortable leave your child with a willing and trusted family member or friend. To overcome a child's anxiety try going out at naptime, after their bedtime, or plan your outing around a fun event they have such as a sleep over at a friend's house.
Do not just talk with your spouse about your child. Spend time talking about adult things.
Limit your child's after school activities to one or two per season. With too many activities you will wear yourself and your child out, leaving no time for anything else.
While your child of course comes first you cannot forget your relationship with your spouse. A healthy marriage makes for a healthy family.
