Police arrested a man Monday night after finding chickens and a pig running around inside his home.

George Brooks' family says he's in jail for beating his son with a metal broom handle and waving a gun in his daughter's face, but when police arrived to his home, they say it was full of trash and animal feces, with a pig and chickens running around inside.

Brooks had marijuana on him, and officers say they also found the making of a moonshine still.

He is being held in the Saline County Detention Center on charges of second-degree domestic battering, second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor with risk of serious harm, aggravated assault with a weapon, carrying a certain prohibited weapon (knife), possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacturing alcohol.
