Gov. Beebe Calls Signing of Bill by Darr 'Inappropriate'

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe called the decision by the state's lieutenant governor to sign a bill while he was out of state "totally inappropriate."

Beebe told reporters on Tuesday he thought he had a good working relationship with Mark Darr until Darr signed a bill on Friday.

"It just shows you can turn your back," Beebe says.

SB131, now Act145, makes information about concealed carry permit holders private; and Beebe told reporters last week he would not veto the bill and allow it to take effect Monday.

Darr signed the bill Friday, saying it "deserved a signature."

Kudos to Lt. Gov. Darr. The bill did deserve a signature and I am glad it has his signature on it versus a coward like Beebe. Beebe was going to "not veto it" let it become law, showing he did not have the guts to put his name on something that will protect the privacy of law abiding citizens. It is too bad Beebe does not spend a little more time out of out state.

Wow. This is like the vice president signing legislation on the president's behalf while the president is out of the country, after the president has explicitly stated that he won't sign such legislation. This takes (and shows) some serious disrespect for our governor and for our government.
