A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the northern half of Arkansas until midnight.

Wintry precipitation and rain has been falling over much of the state since this morning.

An ice storm warning goes into effect at midnight until four o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The photo above shows salt and sand trucks in Little Rock lined up and ready to go when needed.

Road conditions as of 5:15 tonight showed mostly slush, while a few had snow or ice patches, and sleet was noted on I-40 from Ozark to Conway.

A mixture of sleet and snow is expected to transition over to freezing rain and sleet after dark.

Snow accumulations of an inch or two will be possible, with the heaviest totals in higher terrain.

After the precipitation turns to a sleet and freezing rain mix, a significant ice storm is possible.

Ice accumulations of one-quarter to one-half inch will be possible, with greater amounts in higher areas.

Snowfall accumulations are expected to taper off tonight while the most ice accumulations will be after midnight.

Roads are expected to turn treacherous, especially bridges and overpasses.

Widespread power outages are also likely to occur. Power companies across the state have been getting ready for the storm over the last two days.
