Little Rock Mayor Signs Contract for Storm Debris Collection

"Little Rock residents will quickly see a demonstrable increase in the amount of storm debris being picked up daily," said Moore. "The contract with Ceres Environmental is for 160 days; however, we expect them to finish before then."
Ceres was the lowest qualified bidder at $47.44/ton. This company will bring in between 15-20 specialized debris cleanup trucks that have self loading booms and high volume truck beds.
The City's Public Works Department will hand over the maps that have been kept which show the streets where Operations crews have picked up storm debris. The complete sweeps of the City will be made by Ceres. The public will be notified when the 2nd round of debris pick up will begin. This will give residents time to place curbside any additional storm debris. At this stage, the pick up route schedule will be up to the discretion of Ceres Environmental.
Since this systematic storm debris pick up will now happen with an independent contractor, residents are asked to not call 311 any more to report storm debris. The City's Public Works Crews will now go back to normal operations.
The two drop-off locations - at Interstate and Reservoir Parks - will remain open for residents who want to haul their storm debris themselves.
All storm debris will be taken to the City's Landfill where it will be turned into mulch. This mulch is for sale to the public at 10 cents per pickup load or $30 per ton prorated for smaller amounts. The landfill is located at 10801 Ironton Cut-off.
