A new blood test will detect MRSA faster than ever before. MRSA made headlines last year because of its ability to resist many common antibiotics.
The bacterium is generally found in hospitals, where patients' immune systems are down.
The FDA. cleared the way today, for the BD GeneOhm test that identifies a staph infection within two hours.
Right now, it takes about two days.
FDA. officials say the test has been shown to detect 100-percent of MRSA cases.
