LITTLE ROCK, AR-- Congressional lawmakers are trying to come to an agreement on the federal budget before a sequester goes into effect March 1.

That means $1.2 trillion dollars in automatic spending cuts to federal agencies are just two weeks away, and that could lead to furloughs for federal employees.

Simeon Yates is a federal employee.

"I'm an auditor with the Department of the Army," said Yates.

The Central Arkansas father is worried about the possible federal spending cuts.

"I'm having a little baby boy in the middle of May and so I want to make sure I have the money to take care of my family," said Yates.

So he started an online petition, urging Congress to act fast. But he understands compromise won't be easy.

"It seems like everyone set aside their aside their difference for the sake if the State of the Union, but today I think they are right back to politics as usual," said Yates.
