Update: El Dorado Water & Sewer Commission Addresses Customer Service Skills

Update (February 14):
Three days after hearing from the city council about their lack of customer service skills, the El Dorado Water and Sewer Commission has met to see how they can address the issue.

One of the solutions mentioned was to consider a local businessman's proposal to do a comprehensive study of the water and sewer commission's customer policies, rules, employees, facilities, and sampling customers.

The study would mean that the evaluator would conduct observations and interviews to get an understanding of the root of the customer service problems.

The project would take 21 to 28 days to complete.

The commission decided to wait until next Thursday's city council meeting to decide if they want to go with the study.

Original story (February 8):
Mayor Frank Hash says that the city council will vote in the upcoming weeks on whether or not to abolish the city's Water and Sewer Commission after receiving complaints mostly about the commission's customer service.

Water Commission officials say they were unaware of any complaints relating to their service.

Mayor Hash says if the council votes to get rid of the commission, it would only be in the best interest of the city.

"We wouldn't do it unless we thought it was necessary to improve services, so if it comes to that it will only be to improve matters, not to make matters worse," Mayor Hash said.

The commission has until March 7, when the council will decide on a final vote to make the necessary improvements.
