A barge loaded up the facility's fuel dock from a staging ground on the Little Rock side of the river in front of the Peabody Hotel this morning and pushed it upriver.
The journey from near the Interstate 30 bridge was a short one to the marina site, located just across the river from the Dillard's Corporate Headquarters along Cantrell Road.
Construction on the first phase of the marina (36 transient slips) will begin in April. Another 100 slips will go in later that will be leased on a year-long basis.
Rockwater Marina is just downstream from Burns Park and will be able to accommodate boats up to 100 feet long.
Boaters on the river will also be able to fuel up at the marina.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $1.6-million.
