Jessica Dean's Healthy Living: Multitasking & Aging

By: Jessica Dean, KARK 4 News
Updated: January 21, 2013
A new study shows that our ability to multitask changes as we age.

Research from Japan and the United States monitored blood flow in the brains of young and older adults as they performed physical, mental and combination tasks.

They found older adults needed more blood in their brain when completing the combination task.

Researchers say this is a sign that the older brain needs to work harder to multitask.

More studies are planned to see if training exercises that combine mental and physical tasks can help keep the brain young.
