Little Rock Police and Fire Departments say it happened Wednesday on 10th Street when a man with Hernandez Tree Trimming accidentally hit a live wire.
Fire officials say 8,000 volts of electricity surged through his body, causing his death.
"He was hired by the homeowner to come and trim some trees, and that's what he was in the process of doing when he was electrocuted," said Cassandra Davis, with LRPD.
The man's name has not been released yet, as police are trying to contact his family.
