LISA Academy West in Little Rock closed at one o'clock this afternoon.
eStem is closing at 11:30 this morning.
The Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) and the North Little Rock School District (NLRSD) have both decided NOT to dismiss early, but are dismissing classes at their usual times.
The PCSSD explained its decision on its Facebook page as follows:
The District transportation officials and superintendent have been in touch with the National Weather Service regarding the current weather conditions, and school will dismiss as normal today, January 15, 2013. The inclement weather we are experiencing is forecast to conclude by 11:30 a.m. with minimal accumulation. We are advised that conditions are more treacherous now than at dismissal time due to the end of the precipitation, warming to slightly above freezing and traffic turning any frozen accumulation to slush. Therefore, we will not dismiss early. If the forecast changes and conditions worsen, we will reevaluate and advise you.
The NLRSD also explained its decision on Facebook like this:
The National Weather Service has indicated precipitation will end before noon today and the temperature will rise slightly this afternoon. We believe driving conditions will be acceptable this afternoon for travel therefore, the North Little Rock School District will be dismissing all schools at regular time today. Note: All after school activities in the North Little Rock School District will be cancelled today.
