Update January 12, 2013
A Bella Vista family still waiting to find out if they will be allowed to bring home their 5-year-old daughter Polina from Russia.

It's been a roller coaster ride for the Skaggs family since Russia banned Americans from adopting children out of their country in late December.

Despite a court approving the adoption the Skaggs were told they would not be allowed to bring Polina home.

The family spoke with the State Department Friday who says they're still waiting to see how different regions will be implementing the law.

Original Story:
A new Russian law having a heartbreaking impact on one Arkansas family.

A Bella Vista woman learned a last minute push to bring her soon to be adopted Russian daughter to the U.S. is denied.

Kendra and Jason Skaggs were trying to finalize the adoption before Russia banned overseas adoptions.

On Saturday, they learned their adoptee Polina would not be one of the six children allowed to bypass the bill.

On her blog, Kendra wrote:

"It seems that those are children whose parents have not only been through court, but whose 30 day waiting period is over prior to January 1st."

She later wrote "I'm angry. I'm hurt. I'm sad.," but she vows to continue her fight to bring Polina home.

Comments

This just breaks my heart for this family. The adoption process is long and difficult anyway. I wish there was something we could do as a community for them.

Sounds like someone wanted to deliberately block her on the adoption
