When outages occur, you often only see the linemen at work to restore power. However, there's a complex process behind bringing your lights back on.

In most cases, restoring power begins with pubic safety. Crews are dispatched to remove power lines from roadways before anything else.
After that, crews focus on restoring substations. A substation is an electrical facility containing equipment for controlling the flow of electricity from supplier to user.
For there, major distribution feeders will be repaired. These are lines that connect a substation to a power pole.
After that, it's onto tap lines and general service lines.
