But thanks to mission trips by trained medical professionals from the U. S., many of those people are getting the help they need.

An orthopedic surgeon from Little Rock's St. Vincent Health recently returned from such a mission in Peru.

Dr. Lowry Barnes is with Arkansas Specialty Orthopedics, which was recently ranked number one in the state and also among the top five percent in the country for orthopedics, joint replacements and spinal surgery.

Dr. Barnes joined Melissa Simas for KARK 4 News at Eleven to share the story of his mission to Peru, and also discussed information for orthopedic surgery at St. Vincent's Healthmatch, which can be reached by phone at 1-800-632-4614.
