The tragedy at Sandy Hook left many students feeling helpless, but wanting to give back.

So one student at Heritage High School in Rogers is bringing her school together to send a banner of hope to Connecticut.

"I just thought saying sorry wasn't enough cause they've lost something really important in their lives, so maybe I should give something really important back to them," Heritage High School Freshman Carrie Langstaff said.

After talking with her mother about the shooting in Connecticut, Langstaff decided there was something more she could do at her own school for the students and families at Sandy Hook.

"Those parents are never going to have the same Christmas, ever again," Langstaff said.

The banner reads "Our Thoughts Are With You," and holds 200 signatures and counting from fellow classmates and staff at Heritage High.

"I just hope that it gives them hope. That they'll cherish it and maybe even put it up in the school."

Carrie said she wants the banner to send a message to the students at her own school too.

"Christmas spirit and the miracle of life and to be appreciative."

The banner will be sent Friday to Connecticut thanks to a local radio station. Staples donated the banner.
