Searcy Police: Mother Stabbed, Daughter Raped in Apartment Attack

A Searcy woman is hospitalized with stab wounds suffered while trying in vain to defend her 12-year-old daughter from a rapist.
It happened shortly after 5:30 Tuesday night at an apartment complex on Quality Drive, according to the Searcy Police Department.
Police say they have a person of interest in the case but they are not releasing his name or the name of the victim. She is reported to have been stabbed "multiple times," but is expected to survive.
After the woman was attacked with the knife, police say the daughter was raped, then the attacker ran from the scene.
The woman and girl then ran to a neighbor's home to call 911.
