For anyone who lives or has lived in an apartment, you know how your neighbors habits can effect you --there's loud music, heavy walkers, but what about second-hand smoke?

A new report shows how apartment dwellers may be exposed to second-hand smoke even if they themselves keep a smoke-free home.

Researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate a quarter of all Americans live in multi-unit housing, like apartment buildings or condos -- that's nearly 80-million people.

The report shows a majority don't allow smoking in their homes, however nearly half are exposed to second-hand smoke that seeps in through the walls, windows and ventilation systems from other units in their building.

Second-hand smoke has been linked to a variety of health problems -- from asthma and ear infections in children to heart disease and lung cancer in adults.
