Springdale Seeks Public Input on New Fire Stations

By: KNWA-TV, Fayetteville
Updated: December 11, 2012
The city of Springdale is working on plans for some new fire stations.

Based on an approved bond issue passed in the August special election, the Police and Fire Committee is considering moving Fire Stations 2 (Dyer Street) and 3 (Sanders Avenue) and building an additional station (Station 7) on either the east or west side of town.

The city wants to use $9-million in bond money for the projects.

On Monday, the city sought public input on the plan, telling citizens that moving the stations will provide better coverage.

Fire Chief Mike Irwin says the proposed locations received a mostly positive response.
