Update: Mayflower Police Chief Decertified by State Commission after Arrest

Update (January 10):
One month after his arrest in a public record tampering case, Mayflower's police chief has been decertified by a state commission.
KARK 4 News learned of the action against Billy Paul Baker, 46, today from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (ACLEST).
Baker had signed a consent decree agreeing to forfeit his law enforcement officer license following his arrest, which the ACLEST received today.
The decertification means that Baker can not serve in law enforcement anywhere in the state.

The Chief of Police in Mayflower has turned himself in to authorities and is being charged with tampering with a public record.
According to Faulkner County Jail records, 46-year-old Billy Paul Baker was arrested and charged at 10:01 Monday morning and was released just nine minutes later.
Baker is accused of falsifying documents in order to acquire certification for the entire department to use radar guns for speeding.
His status as Mayflower Police Chief remains in question until a decertification hearing scheduled for January.

I hope that people will take a very close look at the former chief. He left Carroll County owing many of it's a large group of people maoney. If you think that he will only lie about a certification, rethink that. People who will lie about something seemingly simple, will lie about everything. I knew this man, and only knew him as a con. How did he EVER become the Chief of Police?!

I see a lot of tickets that need to be overturned that were issued by that department. Tought when those that are suppose to uphold the law break the law. Was he just to lazy to have it done the right way?

OH this being Arkansas, he'll get off with a slap on the wrist and the whistleblower will get fired and blacklisted for life
