Web Extra: Saline County Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday

You would think that if someone had heard the "Happy Birthday" song 100 times, it would be too many, but that's not so for a Saline County woman.
Lona Chadwick says she loved the attention lavished on her this morning at her 100th birthday party in Bryant. Fortunately, she only had to blow out three candles numbered 1-0-0, rather than 100 individual ones.
About making it to her 100th birthday, she says "just live a good, clean life, be a Christian and love the Lord."
The centenarian was born in Paron (Saline County) and grew up there. Most of her working life was spent at the state hospital in Benton, where she was employed for 30 years.
Lona is the mother of three sons. She also has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her hobbies include sewing, getting outside, square dancing, ceramics, crocheting and quilting.
Of her special celebration, Lona said "I got all this attention but I'm glad to see 'em all, I love 'em."
