Blytheville Man Found Shot to Death in Churchyard

The Blytheville Police Department (BPD) is investigating a weekend shooting death outside a church.

It happened Saturday morning at 1604 West Rose Street.

The BPD says Thomas David Essig, 23, was found dead in the yard of True Gospel Missionary Church.

Essig's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call detectives at (870) 762-0400 or (870) 762-2677.
