One in eight Arkansans over the age of 65 is battling Alzheimer's disease, and one in three knows someone who has it.

Alzheimer's is a heart-wrenching illness that's just as difficult on the patient as it is on family members who struggle to care for them.

That's why it's so important to raise money for research to fight alzheimer's, and that's what a local event is doing the first week of November.

The Alzheimer's Association is hosting its 4th Annual Autumn Lights Gala & Silent Auction on November 6th.

The place to be is the Doubletree hotel in downtown Little Rock.

On Monday, Alzheimer's Association Assistant Director, Marisha DiCarlo joined Melissa Simas for KARK 4 News at Eleven to share details about the event, which will include UA Athletic Director Frank Broyles.
