Friday was take-off time on the Snowball Express for dozens of families of fallen military men and women.

The families boarded a chartered American Airlines plane bound for Dallas-Forth Worth for an all-expense paid few days of fun and friendship with other families just like them.

"It has been said that they too serve who also stand and wait. You have waited for this country to say thank you, we say thank you to you this morning," said Senator Linda Chesterfield.

The Snowball Express is an all-volunteer nonprofit with a mission to bring hope, joy and new memories to children who have lost a parent on active duty since September 11, 2001.
