Final Results: Smith Wins North Little Rock Mayoral Race

9:25 p.m. Update:
Joe Smith will be the next mayor of North Little Rock.

Final numbers show Smith defeated Tracy Steele by a total of 1,301 votes, receiving 54.72 percent to Steele's 45.28 percent.

Tuesday evening, it appeared Joe Smith was on his way to becoming the next mayor of North Little Rock.

With early voting results in and precincts beginning to report, Tracy Steele called Smith to concede in the race.

Smith had a 51 percent to 49 percent lead at the time he gave his acceptance speech.

Steele earned the majority of votes in the November election but didn't get the majority needed to avoid a runoff.

Smith will replace outgoing mayor Patrick Hays.
