Ernest Hoskin's wife Nikkisha says investigators told her who shot her husband the day he was killed. However the investigation is still open and state police have not released any names to KARK, but the county prosecutor admits this is a strange case.
"This is the day we got married," said Nikkisha, pointing at photos.
Nikkisha Hoskins says she and her husband Ernest lived in true newlywed fashion. Constantly taking photos and always staying in touch.
"He won't go an hour without talking to me he'll send a text to let me know he's thinking of me," she said.
That was the norm, until Friday November 9th, when she noticed something was off.
"He was like I've got to go into a meeting, call you as soon as the meeting is over," she said.
But the next time her phone rang, it was state police telling her to hurry home.
"Instantly my heart fell," she said. "He said, 'I just want to tell you Ernest was killed today and he was killed by," said Nikkisha, sharing a name that she says police told her that has not been released to the public.
She says was astonished by the alleged suspect, but somewhat comforted hearing justice was near.
"He said we didn't take him into custody we brought him in for questioning him but you can believe he will be arrested and charges will be brought against him," she recalled.
That was nearly two weeks ago.
"It makes me very angry because this man is free. He is leaving, he is breathing and I just had to bury my husband," she said.
The Hoskins were married in July but set to have a big wedding in December, Now, instead of looking forward to their future. Nikkisha is holding on to every memento honoring their past.
State police are still investigating this case. No arrests have been made.
