He has spent a majority of the last few years in the hospital receiving treatments to fight the disease.
While he was there, he discovered he had quite an artistic talent.
Elijah hasn't quit painting since, and has sold one of his pieces for over $5,000 at a local auction.
"You can express how you feel, what you feel, and you can pretty much say anything without having to say it with words," Elijah says.
He has gone through countless rounds of chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, but he uses art to deal with the pain and fear from his sickness.
He has been selling some of his pieces to raise money for an iPad, something he says he's wanted since they first came out.
KARK 4's Mallory Hardin caught up with Elijah at Stephano's Art Gallery in the Heights and presented him with an iPad.
When asked what he planned to do with his new iPad, Elijah replied, "Everything."
