Arkansas Thanksgiving Travel Report

By: News Release
Updated: November 20, 2012
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will have minimal lane closures on major highways during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to AHTD officials.

On Interstate 40 in eastern Arkansas, travel is reduced to one lane in each direction in the vicinity of the White River Bridge in Prairie County.  The lane closure extends from Mile Marker 198 to Mile Marker 202 for eastbound traffic, and from Mile Marker 198 to Mile Marker 206 for westbound traffic.  Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes around the construction area including Highway 70, located parallel to Interstate 40 to the south, or Highway 64 to the north, between Marion and Bald Knob.

In Texarkana, Highway 245 will be reduced to one lane in each direction extending from Interstate 30 southward to Highway 82.

On Interstate 530 in Jefferson County, traffic is utilizing the northbound lanes and is reduced to one lane in each direction extending from the Jefferson Exit, in Jefferson County, northward to the Pulaski County line.

At the Interstate 430/630 interchange in west Little Rock, no changes in the traffic pattern are expected between Thanksgiving and the end of the year.

As always, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling through work zones. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is historically the busiest travel weekend of the year, and motorists should take that into consideration when making travel plans.
