A groundbreaking in Pine Bluff today begins the process of building another fire station for the city.

The Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services hosted the ceremony this morning for Fire Station #3, which will be located at 32nd & Beech.

In a statement, Mayor Carl Redus expressed sincere gratitude to the citizens of Pine Bluff for their efforts in securing funding to build the new fire station.

The passage of the 2011 5/8 cent tax was earmarked for land acquisition and construction of a new fire station.

It will be a three bay station to serve south and southeast Pine Bluff.

The new station will replace the current station located at 30th & Ash that was built in 1956.
