Salvation Army of Pine Bluff Kicks off 2012 Kettle Drive, Angel Tree

The Salvation Army of Pine Bluff kicks off its 2012 Kettle Drive and Angel Tree programs today.

You'll see Kettle Drive volunteers standing out in front of stores and ringing bells. Spare change or cash placed into their kettles will help make Christmas bright for the less fortunate in Jefferson, Grant, Arkansas, Lincoln and Cleveland counties.

Anything that holiday shoppers can drop in the kettle as they head inside stores may seem like a little but the Salvation Army says it goes a long way.

The Angel Tree program involves children's names placed on trees in Pine Bluff-area stores. Shoppers who can afford to take a name from the tree and buy that child a gift will put a present under their tree. In most cases that Christmas gift will be the only one they receive.

If you'd like to volunteer for the Kettle Drive or Angel Tree program, call the Salvation Army of Pine Bluff at (870) 534-0504.
