Freeze Warning: Colder Air Settles in over Arkansas

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: November 12, 2012
Colder air is settling in over Arkansas.

A freeze warning is in place for parts of Central and South Arkansas from midnight until eight o'clock tomorrow morning.

Counties in the freeze warning zone are Arkansas, Bradley, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Jefferson, Lincoln, Lonoke, Monroe, Perry, Prairie, Pulaski, and Saline.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says the combination of cold high pressure, a clear sky and near calm winds will create the conditions for the freezing temperatures. For most locations in the area, this is expected to be the first freeze of the season.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in the hours after midnight, bottoming out around or a little after sunrise.

The freezing temperatures will kill crops and other sensitive outdoor plants and vegetation.

The NWS reports the coldest temps in Arkansas Monday morning: 24 at Fayetteville and Rogers, 25 at Highfill and Winslow, 26 at Lead Hill and Strickler.
