Improvements continue on a week-long project to show the City of Little Rock what an area of Main Street could look like.

A group of volunteers working on "Pop-Up Main Street" moved trees in today to signify a median along the center of the street, all in advance of a two-day event that started Friday with food, music and arts.

The group received some good news when the city announced plans to move forward with parts of the project.

"We will look at going ahead and putting in bike lanes and perhaps a turn lane," says Frederick Gentry with the City of Little Rock. "Narrow traffic to two lanes to slow it down and make it safer for pedestrians and the bike community."

The permanent physical improvements of adding bike lanes, not just tape, should take place the beginning of next year.
