If you have a weakness for sweets, new research finds cutting the sugary snack might help you live longer.

Research in worms shows cutting the sweets may help the body function longer.

In the study, researchers took away the worms’ ability to process glucose, a form of sugar the body uses to produce energy. They found this triggered a chain of events that led to the worms living 20 percent longer, which is equivalent to 15 years for humans.

The longevity effect remained even after they added glucose back to the worms’ diets.
