Drinking any type of alcohol in excess could increase the risk for breast cancer. Even red wine -- touted for its health benefits -- can be harmful when women drink too much. Researchers studied the habits of more than 70-thousand women, and found there was no difference in the risk for breast cancer among women who drank wine, beer or liquor. But women who drank three or more alcoholic drinks a day had a 30% increased risk. Researchers say that's similar to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.
