The higher education subcommittee wants to make college readiness a top priority. Committee members are considering a statewide assessment exam to be taken by all students by their junior year of high school.
The test would determine if students are ready for college material, and is designed to predict college success.
Any changes to the law would have to be made during the legislative session.
