With the election weeks away, the most pivotal race for Congress is tipping toward the Republicans--and if the GOP wins that contest, it will mark the first time since Civil War Reconstruction that the Republicans will control Arkansas' Congressional delegation.

Tom Cotton is leading Gene Jeffress in the House District 4 race in terms of both money and popularity.

The latest campaign filings show Cotton has raised just over $1.4 million compared to $83,000 in Jeffress campaign coffers.

Also, a recent Hendrix/Talk Business Poll shows 51 percent of likely voters favoring Cotton, 27 percent favoring Jeffress. Pollsters surveyed 509 people. The margin of error is +/-4.3.

The seat was held by Mike Ross, considered one of the last blue dog Democrats. Ross decided to leave politics to spend more time with his family.

The candidates squared off Tuesday afternoon for a live debate broadcast from KARK's studios.
