Here's more in an ATU news release:
Belew's blind audition performance of "Hard to Handle" was part of the program's broadcast on Monday, Oct. 1.
Performers on "The Voice" must entice at least one of the celebrity judges --- Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine or Blake Shelton --- to turn their chairs around as an indication that they want the performer on their team for the next stage of the competition.
As the final note of Belew's 90-second performance was played, Green pushed the button turning his chair around. Belew will be a member of Team CeeLo for the next stage of the show, which will pit team members against each other in one-on-one competitions with berths in the live performances on the line.
A native of Beebe, Belew graduated from Arkansas Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. He now resides in Nashville, Tenn.
"The Voice" is among the highest-rated television programs in the United States. It has averaged more than 12 million viewers during its third season.
