Country Music Superstar Helping Fight Hunger in Arkansas

A country music superstar is helping fight hunger in Arkansas next week.

Brad Paisley's Virtual Reality World Tour will be in Little Rock on October 11th and will help feed Arkansans in need by collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for Arkansas Rice Depot.

Earlier this month, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported that Arkansas tied for first in the nation with 19.2-percent of Arkansans struggling with hunger during 2011.

Supporters of the Arkansas Rice Depot and ending hunger in Arkansas will have a chance to win two meet-and-greet passes by making food or monetary donations to before the concert. The largest number of food or monetary items donated will determine the winner of the giveaway. $1 will be considered the equivalent of one food item. Brad Paisley will headline with special guests The Band Perry and Scotty McCreery.

Donations will be accepted at Verizon Arena, 1 Verizon Arena Way (North Little Rock), between 4:00 pm - 6:45 pm, the day of the concert (Thursday, October 11th). Contest participants should look for Arkansas Rice Depot's delivery truck and volunteers at the base of the main entrance stairs, next to the KSSN 96 FM mobile station. Donors will be required to provide their name, cell phone number and address when making a donation.

The winner of the giveaway will be announced at 7:00 pm the day of the concert. The meet-and-greet passes will need to be picked up at the Arkansas Rice Depot delivery truck. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the concert will start at 7:30 pm.

Food items most needed by Arkansas Rice Depot include:
  • canned pasta meals (Ravioli, SpaghettiOs)
  • peanut butter
  • canned tuna or chicken
  • canned vegetables
  • fruit cups
  • fruit and cereal bars
  • boxed meals like macaroni and cheese
