The search continues for the man who murdered an Arkansas Baptist College student Thursday night in front of several witnesses.

19-year-old freshman Derek Olivier was a football player for the college. He was shot several times while trying to help a teammate change a tire on campus, and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Olivier's family is from Louisiana. They traveled to Little Rock on Friday. His father says he spoke to Derek just minutes before he was killed.

"I said 'you alright Derrick?' He said 'yeah daddy I'm alright' and then 15 minutes later, my wife called me and she said 'come home,'" said Joe Olivier.

Derek's mother described her son as a kind, warm young man.

"He would help anybody," said Alma Olivier, "I mean, [he] and his brother [were] tight. He was happy to go to college."

The man who shot Olivier has not been arrested. The president of Arkansas Baptist College says police are looking at surveillance video of the shooting.
