4 the Greater Good: ACH Angel One Transport

This weekend, runners in Little Rock will be hitting the pavement to help support an amazing resource here in Arkansas- the Angel One transport team at Arkansas Children's Hospital.
As soon as they get the call, the Angel One team heads to the chopper. They can fly to anywhere in the state within an hour, and that's important when every second counts.
"It is a lot of pressure," said flight nurse Christy Tennant, "Because you're by yourself and you have to be able to think fast and do things on your own and you have to be really good at your job."
They transport all types of patients, but usually it's premature infants and critically injured children.
On board Angel One is a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. They make about six lifesaving flights a day.
Even as the children get the best care possible, their families face tremendous stress and hardship. That's why the Angel One crew decided to host a 5K fundraiser on Oct. 6 to help give back.
"Specifically, they wanted to help families that fly in on Angel One or ride in on the ambulance get back home," said Jill McElroy.
Tennant said, "There are so many families that have so little. They come from so far away, and gas prices being what they are, we just wanted to help them get back home."
