December 6 Deadline to Apply for LCD Display Settlement Payment

Arkansas consumers and businesses eligible for cash payments as a result of the State's settlement with manufacturers of flat-panel liquid crystal display (LCD) screens have just three more weeks to submit claims for those payments, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced today.
McDaniel said December 6 is the deadline for consumers to file a claim, which can be completed online (click here).
The cash payments will be distributed to consumers and entities that purchased items containing LCD screens between 1999 and 2006.
McDaniel and other attorneys general reached an agreement with LCD screen manufacturers earlier this year, settling allegations that the manufacturers conspired to fix the prices of the screens used in televisions, monitors and laptop computers.
Consumers could collect $25, $100, $200 or more depending on the number of products purchased. Consumers and businesses in the 24 settling states, including Arkansas, are eligible for payments.
"Arkansas consumers were forced to pay more than what was necessary as a result of the illegal actions of these manufacturers," McDaniel said. "I encourage those consumers who are eligible for restitution to file a claim before the Dec. 6 deadline."
The claims process is simple. Consumers may file claims online (click here) or call (855) 225-1886 for more information.

If you bought any electronics with an LCD screen between 1999 and 2006, you could be eligible to receive money from a consumer lawsuit settlement.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is encouraging Arkansans to apply for the funds.
In total, the settlement included nearly $700 million in restitution for 25 states, with another $2 million available to Arkansans through a civil penalty settlement, which is a product of allegations of price fixing for the screens.
In a news release, the Attorney General says claim amounts have not yet been determined.
Consumers may register at www.lcdclass.com to be notified when claim forms are available, or they may call toll-free at (855) 225-1886.
Settling companies have included: AU Optronics, LG Display Co, Toshiba Corp., and those companies' affiliated entities, as well as: Chimei Innolux Corp.; Chi Mei Optoelectronics USA, Inc.; Chi Mei Optoelectronics Japan Co., Ltd.; HannStar Display Corporation; Hitachi, Ltd.; Hitachi Displays, Ltd.; Hitachi Electronic Devices, USA, Inc.; Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd.; Samsung Electronics America, Inc.; Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.; Sharp Corporation; and Sharp Electronics Corporation.
