Some Pulaski County Special School District Advanced Placement students have collected a total of $16,000 for their test scores.

During assemblies at North Pulaski, Jacksonville and Mills University Studies high schools last week, students were handed money for high achievement on Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

Through a grant funded by the Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science (AAIMS), as an incentive for achieving superior scores (a score of 3, 4 or 5) on English, math and science AP tests administered at the end of last school year, students were individually recognized and received $100 for each score.

The grant-funded program is intended to address the nation's greatest economic threats: the declining number of students who are prepared for rigorous college courses in math, science and English.

NORTH PULASKI HIGH
North Pulaski High School (Jacksonville) had 17 winners. Those who were juniors last year received their awards on Thursday. The 17 winners received a total of $2,300. They are: Katelyne Burnside, John Collie, Robert Darrington, Neal Graham, Taylor Hodge, Haley Hudson, Maitland Hurley, Christopher Laxton, Amanda Lopez, Nicholas Maier, Shalia Mathenia, Justin Moore, Julie Mullen, David Rodgers, Jordan Sereal, Laura Spell and Lindsey Walker.

In addition, The Wilson Charitable Trust presented a certificate and a monetary incentive to those students who similarly cored a 3 or better on the 2011-2012 Advanced Placement Exams outside of the AAIMS program.
