Kroger Donates $86,000+ in Supplies to Local Schools

Updated: September 6, 2012
The Kroger store chain's Delta Division is donating thousands of dollars worth of school supplies to neighborhood schools throughout its five-state area.

The program's goal is to be in support of children, their families and to assist teachers of the community schools in which each of the individual Kroger stores serve.

The product donation exceeds $86,000 in value and will be distributed by more than 100 Kroger stores in Memphis and West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Southern Missouri, and Southwest Kentucky.

"With the struggle many of our customers are having in today's economy, it's tough to pay all of the bills at times, buy school clothes, plus all of the school supplies that are needed to start off the new school year," said Joe Bell, Manager of Marketing and Public Affairs. "Kroger wanted to do something to help on a very local basis, in the neighborhoods that we serve every day," added Bell.

The Kroger donations will be made by each store to the schools around them, working in the communities where shoppers live.
