It will be held from September 10 through November 29.
The Citizens Academy is open to residents of Little Rock, 16 years of age and older. Sessions will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 at various city facilities. A light supper will be served before each meeting at 5:30. There is no charge for the dinner or workshop.
The intention of the Citizens Academy is to familiarize participants with the workings of their city government. The premise of the academy is that well-informed citizens are more likely to involve themselves in government decision-making and make substantive, productive contributions. City of Little Rock department heads and other well-informed city employees will teach class sessions.
Participants will learn about the Little Rock form of government, public safety, finance, public works, parks and recreation, city planning, code enforcement, animal village, and the zoo.
To register for the eight-week training, email David Sink at dwsink@ualr.edu by September 6.
