NWS: Path of Isaac Still Looks to Pass Through Western Arkansas

AdTech AdWarning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued the following statement concerning the track of Hurricane Isaac:

The projected track of Isaac has changed little. The latest National Hurricane Center forecast still has Isaac tracking through western Arkansas from late Thursday night through late Friday night.

Some of the computer models are still taking Isaac a little farther west than this, but not very much. Thus, I hope the eventual track has finally become more settled. Since rain and thunderstorms will spread out ahead of the actual center, this equates to the rain, wind and storms arriving in parts of southern Arkansas during the day Thursday.

The tornado threat is as I stated earlier. This will be in southern Arkansas Thursday afternoon and evening, and in most other parts of the state Friday afternoon and evening.

I have attached the latest rainfall graphic from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (below). Note that they are now showing some amounts exceeding 8 inches in Arkansas. This is not unrealistic, although the largest rain amounts could still be displaced a little one way or the other depending on Isaac's track.
