The Little Rock Air Force Base is welcoming evacuees from Florida and Mississippi.
It's a move necessary to protect aircraft that could face heavy damage from a tropical storm.
"Well, with expensive aircraft of any kind, you want to get away from mother nature when she bears down with a hurricane, in this case, yeah they're multi-mullion dollar aircraft, even putting them in a hanger you might put them at risk," says Col. David Mobley with 1st Special Operations Wing, in Hurlburt, Fla.
More than 500 airmen and 40 aircraft are expected to arrive in Little Rock.
