"It's a great school," said mother Kristi Burnett. "I've been really pleased with them."
But it's the next step that has families concerned; the nearest middle school is eight miles down the road.
"With that kind of traffic in the mornings, it's ridiculous to have to drive that far," Burnettt said. "I'm going to have to drop one (child) off here, and rush across town to make it to my older son's school."
Carrie Carter says she chose to avoid the long commute for her daughter.
"I've got my daughter at home this year, we're home school for sixth grade," Carter said.
And Burnett is considering other options.
"As a matter of fact, I got online yesterday, looking at charter schools," Burnett said.
Little Rock District Spokesperson Pamela Smith says they've hired a realtor to scout potential sites for a new middle school in West Little Rock, and a new high school in Southwest Little Rock.
"As the city continues to develop west we have to be able to accommodate the needs of our constituents, which we have many students and parents in the West Little Rock area," Smith said.
But the district is far from a potential construction date. The only sure thing is that parents are looking for other options.
"If they built a middle school out here, and people staffed it as well as they staff this school right here, people would be beating the doors down," Carter said.
