High School students from as far away as Rhode Island and California are at UAMS for one week, learning about what it takes to be a pharmacist and the different paths to pursue with a degree in pharmacy. The students have made calamine lotion, glycerin soap and lip balm... all products ready to use. Much of the work the students are doing in the lab, is what first year pharmacy students at UAMS had to complete. Bald Knob senior Will Fawcett says, "It's opened my eyes to the broad range that pharmacy offers, not just retail stores and all that. You can go into just about any field through pharmacy."
This is the first year of the pharmacy camp, and UAMS hopes to continue it. Click here to get more information about the pharmacy camp.
